Deirdre 9th April 2020

Dear Ray I well remember when I booked a holiday for you, Julia, Bob and me via a magazine, and your face when you saw that all our baggage labels said WOMAN. We nearly didn't leave the airport. All those youthful days in Kings Lynn- exploring the beach at Wells-Next the -Sea (looking for the photos next to the sign). And when all 4 of us experienced a liver defying Champagne-A-Go-Go in Ibiza for my 21st birthday, or that dreadful club in Tunisia with dancing scorpions. Thank you for stopping me tumbling down the stands at Chelsea when men were men and we had to stand, and for pulling me out from under one of the police horses in the crush. I could have done without minding the savage rabbit, but at least it gave us a chance to see Bob hopping around with bunny-ears to distract it. I don't think I ever saw you without a lurking smile on your face, or more often crying with laughter. And the special bond between you and Bob just got stronger through the years. Thank you for your cheerful friendship in recent years, which has meant a lot to me. So many pub gardens, so many happy times. You live on in your wonderful family and in all our memories as a thoroughly decent, helpful and cheering presence. Much love Deirdre x
